More on Steven Schall's passing away, many of you
remember him from his convertible red AMX at shows:
he also was building a AMX 2, and wanted me to find
him a Bricklin 1974, and had sent me some photos of another creation he was
doing, which was a highly customized Opel GT, you know those look like baby
Vettes anyhows, but this one was stretched and he told me proudly it would be
AMC powered!
I have two photos from a email I sent Jock Jocewicz
of NAMDRA, who let folks know Steve passed away the other day. Below is a email
I also just got asking me to share it.
In a converstion with his daughter Julie last
night, I expressed sympathies and prayers from Paige and me to her family, just
like Bart Mangrum's family as Bart recently lost his dad. Jodi, Steve's
daughter, told me that 'he died doing what he loved' which she found some
comfort in.
The last thing he did?
He had the convertible AMX in the link above on a
lift and had changed the oil, the drain plug still out of it. He went in to take
a quick nap saying he was tired......and God Bless him, he never woke up. She
said he had clogged arteries and went quick, and quietly in his
sleep.
Everyone who appreciates something different from
AMC will really miss Steve. A true customizer in the real sense of the word, he
had a great eye, for doing things different. Maybe the way 'they should have
been done' like that AMX Roadster. The word 'visionary' quickly comes to mind.
Just like it did with Teague.

Subject: bad news Just wanted to let the amc world know that Steve
Schall, the maker of the amx convertible has died. The hobby has lost a
talented, outgoing, and knowledgeable man. His family has already notified Jock
of Namdra and I'm sure he is also helping spread the word.
