Well, I was able to work on the springs tonite. I had some spacer plates made by a machine shop to fit around the spring center bolt washer. They are 4"x2.5"x1/8" with a 13/16" hole in the middle. They fit perfectly and are the thickness of the washer, so the entire center bolt above the washer fits into the spring perch. But now I am having another problem. I tightened the ubolt nuts, and they dug into the shock plate (pretty severly in 1 spot). Has this happened to anyone else? Did I do something stupid (not the firt time)? I plan to get some grade 8 washers, which by the way, none were included with my purchase. Are there supposed to be washers between the nuts and the shock plate?
