Well....I have a nicely painted Orange Gremlin and no engine....got the engine in and running...set the timing and did some minor tuning.....ran it for about 20 minutes or so and no problems....next day started the motor was revving it up some not above 5g's....about the 3rd or 4th time I head a bang and she locked up.....turns out the #2 rod broke and took the cam and block with it....may be able to save the crank????????...also bent 3 valves....2 exhaust valves on one side and a intake valve on the other side.....I think the heads can be fixed and re used ( I hope...as I have about $1000 in them as they set).....I could not turn the motor over so had to take it a part so I could get the tranny off the crank!!!!!!!!!. ......Did not even have it off the jack stands yet!!!!!!...YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So...I now have two options.....I can put a stock 360 back together and run that....quickest....or pull a 401 out of a parts Jeep and run or build that....I am leaning toward building the 401 but may put the 360 together as a temporary fix.....I am a little short of funds so will have to buy parts over time....thats the bad news for this week............. The good news is that we got our 69 AMX running for the first time in over 4 years....has a 360/727 in for the wife to drive and race....still need to fix a few things but hope to have it out for the Club race this Friday (28th).....
