I just saw how it was done on My Classic Car or one of those shows. The part is stripped and cleaned and clear coated with paint. It is then put in a vacuum chamber and tumbled on a rack. Small bars of alumium are electrically atomised and form a fog in the chamber and settle on the tumbling plastic part. The part is then clear coated again. To watch this it was an amazing process. I too would be concerned about trying to do this to a 30+ year old grill and also about the possible damage or loss due to shipping as the plastic is now brittle with age. "Doc" Yahoo!
