[BaadAssGremlins] wiring questions...

I have 2 Gremlins, My first is my "donor car" its a 1976 base model 258 auto with air, PS and a delco alternator...my builder is a 1974 X it has basically the same amenities PS air and auto but has the motorcraft style alternator. I will be using the motor complete from the 76 what I'm wondering about is the engine harness. Will the 76 plug up to the firewall and work o.k.? If this proves to be a problem I could go to the "one wire hook up" Delco aternator with a self exciting regulator I guess. I have already converted over to the chevy HEI distributor.
