RE: [BaadAssGremlins] Re: Anyone ever notice the one small little problem with an AMC car???

I am currently going to school at NASCAR TECH and working part time for a race team here so I have smelled a motor blowing. not a great smell when you are the one who built it.Diesel reminds me of my army days.Cooking the outhouse refuse in 55 gallon diesel fuel. OH what a s----- smell. Still hate diesels 30 yrs. later. My mother in law was put on this earth to nag the stuffing outta me, I do believe. Never forgiven me for taking her daughter away. Now that we have 5 kids, I try to give her back but do you think she will take her now? .....NOOOOOO

Your right Eddie....Thats what Grandma's are for. Is to sit back and tell tales of how things used to be. And Grandpa's also. I still have one Grandparent left and she is in her 90's and coming for a visit next week!! I havent seen her in...shit, YEARS!! I do owe he quite abit...she was where I stored my Gremlin for around......17 years!!! It was just like it was when I put it in her garage. SO, I do owe her the respect of being my Grandmother and for not selling my car!! I know she has stories to tell, if I hear any good ones...I will be shure to pass them on to everyone here!! Another thing that will bring back memories....more than anything else...is smell. Ever smell a blown up motor? The smell of burnt oil and really hot metal. Yeppers! That motor is post toasties!! I used to do alot of cooking when I was younger and when I walk into any kitchen, just the smell brings back memories of cooking. Desiel also brings back the memories of my time in the service. The smell of burnt desiel fuel brings back the memories of the old "duece and a half" and the old 5 ton dump trucks that I used to drive into the ground!! Strange. Isnt?             Bill Id.

Bill, that happens with a number of models. Another horn beeping problem is
with 70-71 rim blow equipped cars. Back then it was novel to drive around
with your hands in the 10-2 position (which is not taught anymore by drivers
ed!) and should you turnj a corner, you accidentally beep the horn. nowadays
if some dumb contraption (and I have always consider the Rim blow in 70-71
AMC & Ford one of the stupidest ideas out there) but nowadays if someone
equipped a car like that, you would see a rise in people getting a cap in
their ass.

Speaking of grandmas, if mine, Maria DeAlcala, was still alive, she would be
turning 114 this year, so in same age group as your's Bill. They could tell
stories of when the auto first was built, and how many different automakers
in the US in the 20s and 30s. And who had quirks like the horn above; quirks
like Tucker roving headlight, or gas lamps in a White, or did Duryea build
the first automobile. Or if they were into cars as much as many of us are
here, chances are they were wooed by the new Ramblers, Nashs, Hudsons, Ajax,
and maybe as kids they rode their Jeffery bicycle too. Quite some stories to
tell....sort of like everyone on here has a story from a different area, of
the country.
