Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Parts car

To remove the door panels remove the 2 Philips head screws in the
plastic door handle cup and slip the cup out and off. Remove the widow
roll up handle with an allen wrench. No special tool for this like the
GM's. Remove the 3 Philips screws you mentioned along the bottom of the
door panel. The top and both sides are held in with clips that just pop
off when you pry between the door panel and door with a flat screw
driver being careful not to break the cardboard door panel backing.
Modern cars have plastic pop off clips that some times break, our old
AMC's have the old metal wire type. They are also still available. You
will need a small torques socket to remove the outer door handles. Hope
that helps.

--- Begin Message --- Thanks for the input guys. I do appreciate it. I was thinking exactly the same as you guys. I have no intention of paying anywhere near the reserve price for this car. I thought I might go a couple hundred bucks. The disc brake set up alone is worth that. I've been watchin ebait and someone is parting out a maroon car, and a bunch of fenders and hoods. Nothing seems to be selling. I am limited for space but was thinking of keeping all the small stuff like Bill said and shelving it. Don't know if I want to mess with the engine and trans , but a lot of the trim parts are useable.  The car is at 178.00 now so I don't think it will get real high. The owner said if it didn't hit reserve I could have it for high bid , so I might do that. I'm also thinkin the door hardware if not the whole doors might be a good thing to keep if I can find space.  Anywho, I'll keep ya posted.  I do have a couple questions DOC could probably help with. I want to replace the door handles . Do I need any special tools to remove the door panels. I see there are three screws thru the panel at the bottom but was wondering what else to expect.  Also , on this parts car there is minor damage on the pass. front fender and it appears to be fiberglass. Did the 78 come with glass fenders or has this car been worked on? I need some info on cleaning and painting my door jambs. The car is silver and the jambs are greasy dirty ugly ass white and some flat black. Where in heavens do I start and how much prep is needed in this area. Thanks again for the parts car info   Paul
