Like I said the door handles are not the same. I wish they were as the
Javelin ones have the lock tumbler in the handle and not in the door
like the Gremlins and Hornets. It is also longer because of the tumbler
being in the handle. I think the Javelin ones are nicer. It cleans the
door up. Let me know about the sill plates. If the look ok I may sprig
for a set for my other car if the price is reasonable. My son said he
paid 30$ for a pair of repo sills for his Javelin.

Hi Doc. Acording to my part #service guide from amc this sheet covers 73 and 74 javelin as well as the other models. I could be reading it wrong though. I'll have to cross reference with another sheet I have. The bumper face plate is the chrome outer bumper without all the other hardware attached. thats the piece we all want, and you used to be able to order just the chrome piece like you can on like 90s pick ups. It is actually The bumper but has it's own part # and in a body shop they would order only the chrome if the rest of the stuff was OK. I've only used these crash sheets a couple times so the learning curve goes up slowly. Paul. Also Doc, I think I located after market door scuff plates for a Gremmie. I'll let you know how that works out. Good timing seeing as you've got all that time in yours. They don't look exactly the same though.

Concord, Spirit and Eagle handles are all the same but like said there
are left and right's. They will not fit Javelins as the lock tumbler is
in the handle on Javelins not the door as with the above mentioned cars.
I have a 72 & 74 Javelin here to verify that but, cannot say about
Rebel's or Matadors.

OK Here goes. The door handles are AMC # 3631162-3 and if you put a J in front of that it gives you a Mopar # You need left and right but both can be found with that # as they are consecutive Mopar #s are 488 3489AA and 488 3488AA for the left and right. the price for a NOS handle is $72.75 but the guy gave me the good guy price of $65. 48, probably cause I had a couple good jokes to tell him. There is also no shipping charge. I also found them at an AMC supplier of NOS but they are more money, and then add shipping. The guy called back about my rear bumper (face plate) and said he coujdn't find it in the warehouse but would continue to look on Monday. It figures. These handles by the way do fit 73 to 75 Hornet Gremlin 70 to 75. and many of the following Javelins Ambasador Rebel, so thats a Matador and Americam. Years vary. But if you have a set of crash sheets all part #s are listed. If you don't have them you can score them from Petes auto data, or better yet I could copy and send them for the price of postage. If you need specific #s now email me and I can look em up.

Paul Hancock <kwikbiker@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:I thought you guys were messin with me bout gettin gremlin door handles at the mopar dealer. But I went to the dealer on the corner and gave him part #s. He ran them and said nuthin came up, so I explained they were Amc #s for a Gremlin and should he enter a different way. Nope, you're outta luck. So, I then went to the old Coon Bros AMC dealershi p across town. The guy there had been there about 15 yrs. Gave him the #s and he said be right back. Sooo he found me 26 pair of handles, a chrome handle for the rear hatch, a rear bumper face plate (Chrome no doubt) (the only one listed) and said he knew who had sill plates that would work on my car. Yahoooo. No luck on the tail lights. I asked the parts guy how he did that and he said you have to put a J in front of the part # and that means it's AMC. So I called the other dealer back cause I thought I'd left one of my crash sheets there and he wanted to know how I did at Coon Bros (now Snethcamp Chrysler Plymouth). I told him the guy put a J in front of the # and everything popped up and I got my parts. No kiddin he says, thats how we used to do it at AMC. Helloooo ..!!!...Earth to parts guy!!!!. I didn't trust this guy from the get go. How many parts guys do ya know that wear a white dress shirt and a red (power tie) to sell parts. LOL All in all it was a good day.. Paul in Detroit
