Re: [BaadAssGremlins] The Gremlin Garage "Ark" receives it's first AMCs...1 by 1...

Hello Jerry, I enjoyed your posting. If you do decide to part out the Gremmie  I could use some interior parts. My front seat in my 74 is pretty much made of duct tape. Need a good rear bumper also.
Also, for anyone who read my posting last week I was on a road trip last week from Mi. to Ne. to get a car and did check here there and in between for JL cars at Walmart but no luck. couldn,t find a one. We did however see a whole lot of corn fields, cows, cows, and a very rusted car in Ne. that was supposed to be rust free and solid. 1800 mile round trip for nuttin. Good thing there,s a lot of bars in between.  Paul in Detroit

Well, being without a job DOES have it's advantages, it frees up
alot of time to do personal projects. I went down to the farm on
Wednesday evening this past week, and Thursday morning I started
pulling vehicles from the lower field to the driveway with my Jeep
Cherokee. First was a '55 Chevy Suburban, 2nd my '70 4-door Hornet
SST. The Sub was the first to arrive at the Garage on Thursday
afternoon, the Hornet Friday morning. SPent the afternoon getting
the '70 Javelin out of a chicken house, dinged the rear quarter a
bit getting around a pole, but it should pop out ok, minimal damage.
The javelin was roll-backed Saturday morning. Unfortunately,  time
ran short( and rain arrived), so I had to stop at 3 vehicles.  Hope
to get 2 more done this coming week, then stop until the garage
doorway into the shop is opened up, I can get at least 2 vehicles in
then, probably, but still have to clean out stuff inside the shop.
But once that doorway is opened up, I should get all my vehicles I
want to save off the farm and into the lot and shop. I just did a
graph line plot of the lot and garage space, and cut out squares to
represent the cars I have to move ( Matador Coupes, Gremlins,
Spirit, VW, 57 Chevy ), and I managed to get them arranged so 4 fit
in the shop, and 8 in the lot. 2 or 3 vehicles will only be
temporary, as I'll either cut them up, or sell them. Then I can move
some more down from my house. :)
But at least the goal of getting my cars off my aunt's farm and on
to my OWN property is under way! I got the 3 most important I wanted
to save, if the rest don't make it, well, I'll sacrifice them. I
can't keep all my projects and parts cars forever. Here's several
that will be going -

'74 javelin , hit hard, being cut in half, saving rear quarter half
'79 Spirit D/L, V-8 chassis, some rust, maybe sell or part out
'87 VW Scirocco 16v, wife's car, for sale
'75 Matador X coupe, to my friend Jay for $100, rusty, missing parts
??? '78 Gremlin GT, VERY rusty, rear hatch area is shot, frame
rusted out up front, windshield pillar twisted - keep or part out?
Levi interior. Help me decide!

Others which may show up are a '70 Javelin 360 car chassis only,
still at the farm, but not mine, but might wind up that way. And a
whole lot of parts and a few Honda Motorcycles.
So, the project which started back in the summer with my purchase
of a building and empty open lot is nearing it's completion, Phase 2
with the garage door opening cut into the wall starts this coming
Saturday, I hope! Once done and the door installed, I won't be
spending much money on the building for awhile. Probably work on the
bathroom floors, they're rotted and shot now, need replacing.
Another winter project. But at least it'll be inside, and some cars
will be, too. I intend to get the '70 Hornet and '70 Javelin running
again, and maybe get antique tags to drive them locally. But I need
to concentrate now on my final push to save my cars still on the
farm. If things go as planned ( Ha! ha! ), I should have most moved
by end of February.
So, that's my AMC weekend report, the Gremlin Garage is starting to
fulfill it's promised function. I also found a '72 Gremlin X, the
local junkyard owner who was flatbedding my 3 cars had JUST picked
it up 60 miles away on Friday, I looked it over, some rust, but
decent. 258 motor. he doesn't want to sell it, he LIKES Gremlins,
says he has 3 more over at his other place, and he'd show them to me
next time I was down. I think he intends to keep it. But he has
another one stored for some guy who hasn't come back for it in a
year, and he said he might get a lien againest it, it's a western
rust-free Gremlin, not sure which model/year. Ah, the joy of
Gremlins. LOL. Well, that's all for this evening, later,

Jerry in Virginia
