Hi Paul, while Roas has already commented on some of this, I'll also toss in a few tidbits.

Subject: [BaadAssGremlins] Ebay AMC's

I really can't figure out these people that list stuff on Ebay. Why list an item in this manner??

Duh!! I am pretty sure we know that a Javelin is not a Firebird or Camaro. I mean I get confused every once in a while. Here is another one

Exposure only factor. You have millions who do basic search on stuff like "firebird" or "camaro". Granted if you have X amount of money to spend you are not going to buy Javelin unless you can't afford the other cars in the 'subject'. Ford man no buy Chevy unless no afford Ford.

I think people figure the only way someone would find their obscure AMC car is by people stumbling on their car when they were really looking for something else. This is just stupid salemanship. Even if you do happen to attract some Camaro buyer to a Javelin, will they want to pay as much for the car as say someone who actually was looking for a Javelin to begin with!!??

I agree, it is wasted subject for seller, but possibly they are trying to attract rodders, as more and more older Ramblers are picked up to get pimped, customized. But as much as I like to think many Camaro people are idiots, they ain't idiots when it comes to spending their money either. Regardless of whether they have a 454 Rat sitting there looking for something to drop it into, since they "know" Chevy (insert their loyal brand here) chances are they won't change stripes, at least I have never seen a big migration like this going back to the 60s!

Ah, here is a cool one that is looking for people who want other AMC cars but surely they want my Gremlin!!

Arggh!! Am I  the only person in the world who finds these listing annoying!! Why put the word "NOT" in your title period!! Not really a good idea to use negativity to get someone interested in your car!!

Correct, but they have to put something in there to let people know what it 'ain't also or ebay could yank the auction, so a three letter word works wonders. Here is some fun for all who might be reading; go to www.ebay.com and search for the word NOT. This is the link:

Over 37,000 "NOT"s come up! That's a lotta nots.

I don't even understand this title

First of all, "Javelin" is spelled wrong. It is not called a "Go Fast" Package, rather it is a "Go" Package. And what is the relevance of having a "Z" on the VIN if the car has a 360 rather than a 401?? Finally "L/R" Huh??  Also, if you read the ad, the whole thing is shouted out to you in large print all caps. It is nearly impossible to read.  Actually the car does not look half bad--especially with nice looking leather interior. Shame the guy selling it is an idjit.

Well, yes and no. If I find some AMC in house literature here, it refers to the Go Fast Package in 1968. So you had AMC sending out Press Releases to all and any organizations and they would print what AMC sent them. The ones I have here somewhere in this stuff are from December 1967, but may be before that describing the Javelin that came out and appeared in showrooms in September 1967; same with AMX, I can recall a few AMI articles with Go Fast Package describing the AMXs. So old timers will know what I'm talking about. Ever notice how many folks call your AMX a Nash? Or your Ambassador a Rambler? Even into the 1980s, people would STILL refer to your Spirit as a Nash, the older the folks the better chance. Not being derogatory, it is just the wonderful company they associate with your AMC....and remember, Nash was around for 2X+ the years AMC was.  On the "Z" code some people are mystified with that for whatever reason, to me it don't mean shit, it is another code in the VIN. Most of our cars are musical engines, trans and what not thru the years anyhows. But some people will see a 7th digit Z code and to them it is a AMC hemi.

And Paul, have you ever heard the Go Package refered to as the POWER PACK? This was it's original name and apperas in all sorts of literature including dealer order forms.

On the AMC Build Sheets
this was in the middle row. Look closely at Christina Redfern's build sheet and it is the 7th box, middle row, from right with PP1/PP2

Rarely will you ever see anyone refer to it as a Power Pack!
That's all for today, been really sick, Jacob got sick Tues, Noah Wed, then me Saturday, and Paige Saturday night, it is what is being called 'the Katrina Spuuge' which is like flu, about a 72 hour bug, major barfing (gee what a waste of chicken tacos, damn) squirts, and man, the cramps were painful, don't know how the two small boys held up, but just as soon as hits, it is gone. It has to do with all the Katrina crap it was said on tv, and well, since we were volunteering, we were exposed to it I guess. I feel sorry for those people who are working in New Orleans looking for bodies in that toxic crap. One story had two rescue dogs drink some of the water only to die less than 30 minutes later.
See ya'll,
Eddie Stakes
felling better today, lots of Gatorade!

Anyway,
That should do for ranting for today.
Paul
