Bricklins rock, well, yes and no, I like the 74 Bricklins, of which a few
photos of my 74 Brick shown here, sold recently and the fellow is making
payments, granted it is like winning Arkansas lottoery, you win 3 million
dollars and they pay you one dollar a year for three million years, so sort of
slow. But the 74 Bricklins had the powerful AMC 360V8, same four barrel engine
in the AMX. Problem was, AMC ran out of engines in 74 for several reasons. One,
they continued production into November 74, when it was supposed to stop July
31st, 1974, as it had began Aug 1st, 1973for the 74 models, but AMC asked for,
and got, a extension from the feds to take advantage of changing emissions laws.
Two, well, they were selling the crap out of their engines to International
Harvester. Three, they were selling to old Malcom in the Middle Bricklin, for
his Bricks, in Canada, so they could not press them fast enough. So Brickin did
some mods and changed for the 75 model year to Ford 351s. No shortage of those
boat anchors.
Anyhows, I sold my Bricklin after advertising it for 2 years, for $2500, it
will be going to Nebraska, the fellow owns two others, mine is Bricklin #216.
For what it is worth, sure wished AMC would have numbered the 68-70 AMXs on
the VIN like Bricklin did instead of just shoving little goofy plaques on the
dash. Speaking of goofy little dash plaques, if anyone has any for sale, I buy
them. No reason either, sort of like a homeless person has 10 cats or dogs, I
just collect them.
Here is the main Bricklin site, enjoy, good reading:
