Seems like one more opportunity for an exhaust leak to me!!!

Looks like a glorified heat riser valve. I'm not sure I'd trust this device.
Is it still available? The article dates back to 2001.

are your thoughts about this little add on? Do you think it would be 
beneficial for performance? It talks about relieving the back pressure, 
etc. Electronic controlled, not heat sensitive?
