If so, I'll leave it in, as it's in very
good shape...and my intent is to have the car

John the name of the carpet padding is Jute. Both my 74's had it on the
bottom. As for the purpose I have no idea. It was crumbling and I just
scraped it off. I see no difference in noise or rattling.
