Gremlin Sunday run

Went over and started my Gremlin again today. I was waiting for the smoke and the noisy lifter. To my surprise he started right up, no knocking and no smoke. He was running a whole lotbetter than he did the other day just wouldn't idle. I took out a second mortgage on my house and filed him with gas and drove him about 10 miles. Hegot where he would idle but he still doesn't seem like he had much power. I think putting the new intake/exhaust manifold on him and taking off the catalytic converter will help a lot here. The lifters are still making some noise though. Wondering what you guys thought of oil additive's like Slick 50 or even the old standby STP. I know as a kid I used to use STP all the time but I haven't used anything in years. I don't know about Slick 50 in anengine but I used the transmission version and it saved me from buying a torque converter in my Cougar. When I first got my Cougar when you were going slow it would sound and feel like you were going over small speed bumps. Not all the time just once in a while. A buddy of mine with a Mustang said his did the same thing and he put in two torque converters in 2 years to stop it. I saw a bottle of Slick 50 transmission oil at the parts store so I changed my fluid and put that stuff in and it became farther and farther apart until it quit. If I haven't done it I wouldn't have believed it.
