Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Rear Spring Rebuilding Time

Doc,
I too got my stuff from espo. Why not get new springs from them? 160.00 to your door for HD 5 leafers. That's what I got for my gremmie along with the Pollys

When I got the new Hornet some idiot put a set of them shackles on the rear springs. These springs after being 30 yeras old have lost their ride height so I guess this is why the shackles were installed. Also they only have 3 leafs in them and the drivers side one is bent. My AMC friend recomended a local spring shop. I have a good rear 79 Concord spring I know that fits a 74 Hornet as it was in my yellow car for a while. I am ordering the factory shackles with poly bushings and poly front spring eye bushings from ESPO monday. I have this same poly bushing setup in the yellow car now for 4 years and am very pleased with it. When I have the springs rebuilt I will have an extra leaf or 2 installed like the yellow car has. I forgot how many leafs it has but will make the springs for the new car the same. As far as road noise and vibration and squeeks that people complain about with poly bushings I have none. I has a minor squeek for a few months and that only was when it was extremely cold out. I guess once the bushings broke in it went away. I figure i'd fix this problem so the car is at it's proper ride height before I have the front end rebuilt. I will probably have a set of V8 Sportabout front springs installed too like the yelow car has while I have the front end rebuilt.
