If you are going to swap to disc's up front it dosent matter about hammering on the drums. What other cars front ends have you worked on before? AMC front ends are basically the same as most cars of the era, in fact the design is quite similar to Fords of the time. In fact I have 70 Ford Torino shocks in the front end of my 74 Hornet. After working on cars of all kinds for almost 40 years I only remember one car that the front drums that came off without the hub and I think it was a 57 Chevy, it's been many years so I could be wrong on that.
