All 71 and older automatic's will fit. In 72 AMC got smart and stopped
using them crap Warners and switched to Torque Flites. The cast iron
Warners weren't bad but them aluminum ones behind a small V8 were pure
trash. The aluminum Warners might be alright behind a 6 cyl. but
definitely NOT behind a V8. I am speaking from personal experience of
owning one, a 290 69 Rebel and also from working at an AMC dealer for a
short period as a mechanic. Also parts are hard to find now. They sell
adapters to mount a Torque Flight to 71 and older V8's.
