Had a great weekend in the park. They had a total of 1465 cars. I am going to try to post a few pictures just to show you what that many cars look like. I won't leave them up very long because only one is AMC related. There were a total of 5 Amc there. A Javelin, a AMX, a radical metro, a 71 Hornet Wagon and of course Gremie. Of course I came away with the same prize I always win. Nothing. No big deal. The Metro won a prize for being the most radical. I think. I might be on to another Gremie though. A guy started talking to me about a Gremlin he had. He said a guy gave it to him. He said he thinks it is a 72 but it could be a 71 or 73. 6 cylinder with a three speed on the floor. He said it was the guy's mother and when she died they drove it into a field and let it sit for 20 years. He said he had it tolled to a business he owns and was going to restore it but he said he had too much trouble finding parts and then he had a bypass and he said he didn't want to fool with it. I ask him how bad a shape it was in and he said it wasn't that bad. He said it was a complete car all glass grill everything was there. The interior was in decent shape. I guess I looked at him to say you have a 30 year old car that nothing is wrong with why do you want to get rid of it. He then told me what was wrong with it. Guess what the top of the fenders are rusted through and each of the doors have a rust hole in them and of course the engine hasn't been turned over in 20 years. Then he told me some guy wanted it to make a race car out of it but he hadn't heard from him for a while. He said his main concern was he didn't want it to go to the crusher. I told him I didn't either. I ask him how much he wanted for it and the price is right. Free. I am calling him tomorrow night. I might be in need of a couple of front fenders. Question would a V8 mount up to that three speed. I know you guys think I am nuts but a 304 would be what I would want to put in it. You think there would be a chance in hell the 6 banger would still run after all those years. Don't know what I am getting excited about. The other guy will still want it or the thing won't be nothing but a huge rust bucket.
