Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Mopar/AMC Show, Oct 10, 2004, Madera, CA.

These shows that have Ford, Chevy & Mopar trophies should also have an
Orphan trophy which would cover not only AMC's but other brands no
longer made. There are some really nice Studes and a hand full of other
orphans out there. There was a stock looking Metro at the spring Ardsley
show that was modernized with a 80's Toyota engine and automatic trans
and rear with disc brakes. I am not a fan of this but it was done right
and unless you opened the hood or looked under it you couldn't tell. The
woman who owned it said it was a dependable cruiser and it was the only
way she could get an automatic trans because she could not master
driving a stick.

--- Begin Message --- What I am seeing is most Mopar groups are letting AMC's in. I guess technically we are a part of them even though I don't view my Gremlin as a Mopar product. I have been thinking about listing it as a Mopar when I go to shows though. I don't think I would ever win a trophy but you know it is kind of disheartening when you walk up to the table and see three trophies for GM, Ford, Mopar, trucks, rice burner, and nothing for you but best of show. I use to go to a lot of shows that had entry fees when I first started out thinking how nice it would be to have a trophy but when you see rough Mopar getting trophies and you not get a thing it is kind of upsetting. I ask a guy once how did they give the trophies to the rough looking Mopars. He said they didn't have much to choose from. He was right. He saw I was little upset so he ask me if I had a Mopar I said I had the Gremlin. He said I was first AMC that had ever been to the show. He said it would be kind of silly to make a trophy for a make of car that is never there. Thenhe ask me if I really wanted a trophy for just showing up. Well, actually I would have taken it. Now except for the big one I am going to tomorrow I just go to the free ones. They just give out door prizes and maybe one or two small trophies. No big deal I am not stupid enough to think that Gremmie with the work it needs would beat out the high dollar cars. Actually I like it better this way no stress. The one tomorrow is a two day event with the trophies given out Sunday. They give out about 20 trophies but with 1500 cars that is not many. At least for my $25 I get a T-shirt, dash plague and last year a coffee cup. You also get a chance on at least 50 door prizes and a chance on the grand prize of a $1,000. They just draw your name out for that.
