Re: [BaadAssGremlins] worthless amc crushed/ny times blog

Yes it is sad to see all the crushing going on. Here in MD near me a junlyard crushed out all but 4 or 5 eagles a complete almost untouched Kamback spirit/Gremlin. Several cars picked over but a lot of good parts left. Yes many 4 doors but good parts. you hit the nail on the head no interest. with economy and no change in site,no money for toys no interest. Interesting thought: If all the AMC hoarders of cars and parts ,even half, would share/sell at a resonable price their cars and parts we would forget about junk yards. As it is now we wait till we can buy them from their estate. Dale

Sad to see but seen over 10,000+ AMCs be crushed here in Houston alone thru
the years from 1983-on...first there was AMC only section at Houston pick a
parts www.houstonpickapart.com which had two rows....usually 20+ cars, and
those crushed within a month. Years later, one row, and same thing...crushed
afteer 1-2 months. Many of these AMC vehicles no one had bid on at police
lots, storage yard, salvage yards, so off to pick a part they went. Most
were rust free. Just ZERO interest in them. One of the oldest files on my
site deals with this called Altered AMCs
http://www.planethoustonamx.com/stuff/altered_amcs.htm for instance. As I
write this in May 2013, there is a huge salvage yard in Iowa fixing to get
rid of everything, including a number of AMCX & Rambler vehicles
http://imgur.com/a/xapHO . Yesterday got off phone with avid AMCer Kevin in
NM of which he mentioned the junkyard there that is crushing all their cars
crushed a Z code 71 AMX 401 car, and a 69 AMX body. This was mentioned
recently in one of the various Facebook AMC groups: "ATTENTION !!! there are
some AMX's in a scrap yard in albuquerque NM at a place called Bones,
(505)242-0101 ask for Jason. Lets stop this from happening ! !" Apparently
two 'worthless' cars met their demise 05.17.13 that 71 Z code 401 AMX & a 69
AMX, both cars someone would have liked to have! I don't think the Rambler
mentioned in the NY blog was 'worthless' even if a 4 door. Someone would
have liked to have it. But like thousands of AMCs before it, no interest,
just not worthless. I think it deserved a better fate though. Too bad the
writer didn't spring for it.
