eBay has a listing right now from Tuff Dawg for a crate 390:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMC-390-CRATE-ENGINE-BY-TUFF-DAWG-ENGINES-/161027265697?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item257df914a1&vxp=mtr

Agreed and up to buyer to do homework, not relying on seller nor auction house anyways in my humble opinion. Regardless of who made what car. But....if buyer bought it and happy with it then fine, but just don't want them coming back later griping like guy in Galveston. Someone has $10K+ into engine alone on this 73. Regardless of that, have seen this thru years will all sorts of AMCs. If misled willfully, like the 69 AMX at Mecum sold in Dallas year ago, now becomes a pissing contest in courts, as guy in Galveston suing Mecum & the car broker place in Florida who had it listed as a 390 AMX. But was 343. So breakdowns on both car broker/classic car place and auction house for simply not doing homework. Easy sh*t homework to boot! The broker place in FL has already called me several times looking for a 390V8 engine, running, to give to the guy in Galveston so he will drop lawsuit, as he could stand to get 3X court award ($45K-$50K) if court finds in his favor. Not to mention big ass black eye for classic car place & auction house from sheer bad publicity. Hope they can work it out as i sent them leads on a number of 390 engines for sale they could buy, crate and ship to pissed off Galveston AMC guy.

What kind of auction does NOT include documentation info, the door tag info, and VIN? I would say if that info is not supplied, buyer be EXTRA beware! But, it makes VERY little difference if a Javelin was 6 or 401, ESPECIALLY being a non-original resto-mod. If it was a Trans Am model, one of the BBG 500 AMXs, a BigBad colored AMX, a Donohue, etc, yes..We are NOT talking LS6 Chevelles, L78 Camaros, or Hemi Cudas here....
