Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Amazing 1971 Gremlin at Dec 8th Mecum KC Auction

I totally agree with you Gary. While personally I don't care if a Gremlin is not 100%correctct. Mine has quite a few of non correct parts on it but it is my Gremlin and I don't claim it to be 100% original. Then again I am not planning on selling it eitherI just think if you are going to all the trouble of competly restoring one to like new condition you should go the extra mile and get all the original parts for the year especially if you are going to try and sale it for big bucks. Just my two cents worth.

Terry, there were a few other items 'wrong', but I didn't want to nit-pik them all....however, if they try and sell this as a 5 figure car (which I'm sure they have that much into it) then a buyer ought to get what he(or she) is paying for. Gary (themix)

They go through all that trouble and they put the wrong gas cap on it. Then again only you guys would know that.

The Gremlin gas cap is from a later model. The correct cap for 1971 would be about an inch wider, much heavier, and a casting instead of a stamping.

Nice car... did anyone see the one 'wrong' part on this perfect example? Gary (Themix)

This is like the one that I bought brand new in 1970.

I've been looking for this color combo ever since and never seen one for sale. This is probably way too nice for me, since I like a car that I can actually take out and drive, but I may go to the auction anyway.
