Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Re: [AMC-list] Fw: Oil Pressure issues

Yup, seems like every time this year, maybe we need to get some sort of football pot going or something, pick squares on date and time, winner gets some NOS stuff. It's almost as consistent as swallows going back to Capistrano or atomic watch keeping time my damned computer crashing each year. No viruses, just sheer abuse from work I do on it 14-18 hours a day.

I'm just going thru email, most pre-Nov 15th, this is 'canned email' I have been putting in front of most emails today:
================================
Hi just got my computer back and it is on borrowed time as took it up to best Buy as Windows Installer crapped out on Nov 15th, and just picked it up today and while it is running, chances are it will crater again in month or less, so am trying to figure out how to load tons of stuff onto my site, also save photos of cars, kids and what not, files, programs, there is nothing that runs Microsoft Front Page 2000, but I have it and easy to work with on my site, but might have to get Dreamweaver and I don't know HTML stuff and only Windows 7 new Premium has 'virtual XP mode' which supposed Front Page 2003 which I could do but while I have a new comupter next to me in office here, all my crap on this old 1940 DuMont or whatever it is! So ahve to figure out plan b quick, today was first day in 2 weeks able to get into my website and update stuff!
=============================
so if you get a email I previously sent, sorry, if not, well, good, maybe someone hook him up or maybe he/she still needs help! The Geek Squad guy I dealt with today I have tires older than him.

Eddie,

I want to get your input. I have a 70 390 that was recently rebuilt. About 80 miles on the engine. I put in a mechanical oil pressure gauge with copper line. At start up (1200 rpm/high choke) I have 40 lbs pressure. When it kicks down to idle (700 rpm) and the oil starts heating up I lose pressure. It goes down as the oil heats. After about 7 minutes I rev it up to 2200 rpm (about cruising speed) and have 25 lbs. of pressure. After about 12 minutes it is down to 10lbs.
Input from the AMC forum is that I need to check the pressure relief valve. Could that be the problem. If that was defective wouldn't the pressure remain a constant?
Do you have any ideas? Input?

I don't hear any scary noises from the engine.
I pulled and cut the oil filter and found no metal shavings.

Thanks,
Jim
