RE: [BaadAssGremlins] Re: My left-leaning AMC Eagle

My Eagle has good tires and 4WD, making it more of a Libertarian.

My Pacer taxes me heavily, making it a Democrat.

My Eagle Kammback is a project vehicle.  Very long on promise but I can see right through that illusion.... which is very Presidential.

Wish I had a Republican car, so I could be evenly represented.  I just can’t afford it!  :-)

One of my Eagles has a broken rear leaf spring on the driver's side. The driver (me) weighs 275 pounds. It is definitely a left leaning AMC. No need to debunk that. My Gremlins are both straight ahead moderates, and don't lean either way.

No-no!  Not at all.  Actually, I haven’t looked at their site of late.

A good comparison would be the ACLU.  A lot of really good things have happened under their influence.

But an inarguably leftist slant comes with it in what they pursue and *refuse* to pursue.  The agenda is not deviated from.

Snopes is much the same way.  That which is labelled “false” is not always held to the same standard, depending on political viewpoint.  That which is deemed “true” is inconsistent.  That which is neutral leans decidedly left when a political question is at stake.  It’s been that way since day one.

I don’t blame them.  A LOT of people incapable of critical thought have gone to snopes for one-stop shopping.  To me, that’s like going to the Boston Globe for one-stop news shopping.  And for that matter, how can it be any different?  But then, that’s equally as indictable as going to, say, Sean Hannity, for onestop shopping.

I agree, the chain letters, kids dying of cancer, send it now and money will come.... these are all posted for all to see as false.  But why someone needs a website to TELL them that is beyond me.

To me snopes can also be compared to Mythbusters.  If you’re dumb enough to fall for the myth in the first place, you’re dumb enough to fall for how they “bust” it.  Entertaining, yes.  Quite so.  Informative?  As only two highschool kids on a limiltless budget can be :-)

The birth certificate issue opens a huge can of worms I’m sure this list is not set up for.  But allow me to answer  your contention in saying, I’m questioning the ability for anyone to debunk ANYTHING that has yet to exist.  Proving a negative is impossilble.  If snopes has said they have debunked such a question, in the absence of tangible reality, they are every bit as left-leaning as anyone can accuse them of being.

"Left leaning"??  That's a new one to describe the service Snopes offer.

I've never looked at Snopes.com as a political site favoring any one particular party.  Rather, it appears they offer information on idiotic chain mails and other preposterous claims looking to scare people or cheat them out of their hard earned dollars.

I suppose you could see it that way if, as of late, they're busy debunking the flood of "right leaning" "where's the birth certificate", "they're trying to kill grandma", "he's not our kind", "my tea is not strong enough", "she'd make a great president", "can't let him win so block at all costs" junk mail circulated by the highly frustrated far Right.

You aren't knocking Snopes because of that are you?

Snopes is especially Left-leaning. It's a couple of bathrobed geezers that
masquerade as a research staff. If you're after the leftist view, snopes is
the place to be.

Urbanlegend is a bit more centrist in some areas. But again, kind of a
college-kid perspective.

Neither site does what I would call "debunk" any more than a Ford borchure
"debunks" a Chevy brochure.

Research isn't easy and it isn't simple. Expecting someone else to do it
for you is almost the same as placing yourself in a Doctor's hands without
any oversight. And it leads to nearly the same place at times.

The Internet is full of "creative writing" and snopes is no oasis from that.

Try

www.snopes.com

and

www.urbanlegends. com

both worth bookmarking as tons of stuff out there always asking people to
forward! And most is BS!

I had no idea Snopes was that way. I just knew that it was a site to go to
when people send emails frantically talking about China putting silly putty
in your babyfood or other b.s hoaxes like that. I'll check urbanlegend. com
from now on too.
