Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Re: Speaking Of Wal-Mart

Box stores are annoying. I saw walmart shut down a local (new england) chain out of business called Ames. It was bad enough then, but now they opened up a megawalmart.
I still do my grocery shopping at a local chain.
As far as parts stores, I work at one. It is a big chain, but we are so far away from thier base in North Carolina that we have our own independence.  I still dont like how corporate wants all the stores to look the same dispite what building theyre in. The one I work out of used to be a Volkswagen dealership and then a Firestone dealer.  We still go the extra distance for customers. I have seen local businesses on the decline around here as big
boxes move in. Oh yeah a Lowes moved in afew years ago and it is not doing very well.
Just my two cents.

Some small towns have actually fought against and won to keep Sprawl Mart out of their towns. Its sad that Sam Waltons idea's have been used and abused and turned into some machine to bring massive amounts of chinese made shit and whore it onto the American public. Yes gone are the good ole days when you knew the person behind the counter and they knew exactly what you wanted.

Bart the cheap Chinese crap is part of it. The other is them driving all the local small businesses in town here out of businesss. I try not to frequent any chain stores if at all possible with Wal-Mart one to NEVER GO TO. I have been going to the same hardware store for 40 years, one auto parts store for 30 another for 20, Automotive paint supply store for 30, another for 10 and so on. Liquer store for 40, same with the supermarket even though it is a chain store. People know me and I feel you get better service too. The Home Depot opened 2 stores within 15 miles of me drove a few small lumber yards out of business. I still go to the small one next to where I worked 20+ years ago. Treat me right and I am a loyal customer forever, don't and you wll never see my fat old butt again.
