Re: [BaadAssGremlins] Re: Grills & Plexiglass & Glues

1970 and '71s used a kind of bright and rough textured silver paint, then in
1972 they went to a darker (more like pewter) color, except for the Xs that
used the body color paint for the grille surround.

Something I found useful on the eggcrate style plastic grilles is the flat
emery boards that the ladies use for their nails. It's not emery anymore,
but you know what I mean. Available in different widths and grits, work well
getting into the square corners. Good selection at a Sally store, Walgreens,
or some nail salons.

Alsa, for glue--modern plastic model cement seems pretty much worthless.
They changed the formula because the kids like to sniff it to get high, BUT
a good substitute glue that dissolves and welds the plastic is the glue that
plumbers use for ABS (black) plumbing drain pipe. Not sure if PVC-CPVC
(white pipe) cement works--I've never tried that. Comes in about a 4oz metal
can. You do have to be careful not to use too much or it can dissolve too
much and make a real mess. I used some to repair my windshield surround
molding and inside my glovebox, heater control mechanism, and Eagle
headlight bucket.
