RE: [BaadAssGremlins] Re: Grills & Plexiglass

Bill, I believe it up to you, the owner of the car. I prefer an enamal paint. But when working with an enamal paint everything has to be really clean and if your using a spray can like I do, you have to make sure that its good and mixed up or it wont apply properly. It will come out in globs and make a bigger mess then what ya need or want. My Gremlin will be far from original as a person can get. Second style grille on a car that came with the first style grille. The wind burn you may want to try to fill with spot putty, but once again everything has to be really clean. If it isnt it may not stick and fall off. I am going to try to hand paint the silver back on. But I havent got that far yet. I believe Doc is using a product from SEM, but I am not sure. He may chime in and put his 2 cents in also. Also when sanding these old plastic parts, be very carefull the stuff can and usually is very brittle.   AMC's RULE!! ....THE REST...JUST DROOL!! Bill Id.

What are you guys using for the silver paint?  I've been trying to
decide whether to go back as near original on the grill as I can get
or to prep it for painting to match the body when it is painted.

My grill (72 Grem) has some wind burn with no paint on it and thus
the surface texture is inconsistent.  It's not unusual for them to
sanded smooth and painted.

Thoughts?
