OK...most likely a real stupid question...but here we
go.....My 401
is in the shop being
bored,balanced...etc. I have INDY SR heads, and
an
Edelbrock RPM air-gap intake. They mocked it all up
today to check
pushrod length,intake fit...etc.GOT
really WEIRD...the intake gaskets line
up just fine on
the heads..BUT are off on the intake
manifold,the
manifolds ports are offset. He says the intake would
have
to be welded and machined to line up correctly
with the gasket ports!! My
friend who is doing the
machine work says that they run into alot of
Edelbrock
port to gasket opening mis-matching?? NO
quality
control????WORST DEAL.........the end rails are 5/8"
off?? There
is a 5/8" gap at the point where the
intake end seals are to be????? WTF??
I know the INDY
heads are somewhere around .500 taller than
stock
heads...BUT how can the intake surface fit/line up
correctly BUT
the ends be that far out of whack??????
Am i missing something here..or is
the manifold a
piece of @#*&(^%$#$^& ?? I have to drive one
hour
tomorrow afternoon to the shop to look at this
mess(Thursday). ANY
helpful info greatly appreciated.

Joe,you may have been better off going with the matching Indy intake.
