Ah, the mightly Chremlin managed to actually go 4 rounds yesterday
before falling asleep at the tree. Actually, I'm fighting a engine
cooling problem that didn't help either. Best time so far in the
1/8th is 8.382 @ 84.11 mph. Best reaction time was a .038, best 60'
was 1.92. I think that equates to 13.08 in the 1/4. This with a
mild 401/727 and 3.54 gears on Hoosier DOT drag tires. Here's a tip
with those, never do a wet burn out with them, they really like a
short, dry burnout. Do it wet, I just spun off the line, only time
it did. Excessive, John Force stye burnouts slowed me down. Despite
not having any traction bars, the car doesn't seem to spin coming off
the line (unless I do a wet burn out), just sorta moves forward and
goes. I launch around 1500 rpm foot braking, then hammer it as I go,
shifting at 6000 rpm. In the 1/8th, I cross the traps in 2nd at 6000
rpm. Maybe time to put my 4.10's in.
All in all, I'm pretty pleased. Address my cooling system issue, get
some cold air into the carb and hot air out of the engine bay, maybe
play with the carb as I have a flat spot around 4000 rpm, and maybe,
just maybe I'll be into the 12s. Oh, was told that if I go 1/10th of
a second faster, I'll need to move up from Sportsman to Pro. If I go
Pro, I'm definitely going to slicks and my 4.10's.
Sorry, just had to share, had a blast yesterday, sent a couple chevys
and a Toyota truck away broken hearted!
