This ran on the amc-list.
It ain't no Joke !
One BIG reason we're paying higher Gas Prices -
and will continue to do so - and they will be going
up - is that CHINA is an Emerging Industrial GIANT -
that has Signed Contracts for Oil from the same
sources we use for most of our Fuels .
Fuel has hit $2.50 gal. on the West Coast .
75 miles North of Manhatten NYC - $1.79.9 is the
cheapest I've seen .
My prediction > ?
$3.00 per gallon is what our Texan Bush Cronies are
gunning for .
As for Salvage AMC -
the Southern boys - riding Mobile Car Crushers rode
thru here years ago - and cleared the place out .
I regularly see flatbeds loaded with flat cars -
so no one is keeping anything around here.
Next time you're in a JunkYard & see a few AMC -
take a real hard look at what is there - and know
you'll probably never see AMCs in yards again -
and it may happen all at once !
No more hoods or good used fenders -
front clips - doors etc. ..................
Part Prices will Skyrocket ...........
When Calif. began offering a 'Bounty'
for Polluting old cars - the aftermarket
parts manufacturers - Hot Rod Hobby -
got together to fight the Legislation.
There is no way to Legislate against
the Chinese paying $200.00 a Ton
for Scrap Steel .
Can't afford the Fuel - Can't afford the Parts.

: Subject: WARNING!!!! Parts sources in danger! Salvage while you
can!
In my area there is a Junk yard that has been in business since the
30's. They are a family business with literally acres of cars.
Recently Chinese investors in search of scrap steel came through and
offered $200 a ton for scrap steel. That is a price increase of 125%
over
what the junk yard had been getting on the American scrap market
Long
story short, they are going to crush and sell all of the old cars
from the
30's 40's 50's 60's 70' and 80's. They say the Chinese are building
some
huge dam and they need bunches of steel for the project. I have seen
several old yards sell out and close in my area here in mid
Minnesota,
perhaps for the same reason.
I own a machine shop here where we use lot of metal. Metal prices
are sky
rocketing, I assume, as a result of the Chinese entering the
manufacturing
age and buying a large share of the worlds available metal.
So if you have been eyeing up a vehicle in a junkyard you better
grab the
parts you want just to be safe.
