N.Y. State does not require an emissinons test on cars older than 25 years old, only a saftey inspection. They are done by state licenced independant inspection stations such as repair shops and gas stations, not by a state run facility. Lucky me both the Hornets and the Chevy beater are over 25 years old. It also dosen't hurt that I have an AMC friend who is a licenced inspector. Also instead of the 45$ inspection fee the saftey only fee is 10$.
