Welcome Jeff. I have two 74 Hornets, one I bought new and the other I bought 4 months ago. I think the only fix for that plastic valve cover is to istall an aluminum aftermarket one. I think there is somthing different in the bolt patern that prevents the use of an earlier stock steel one.
