The Gremlin Engine Poll...Explained

The Gremlin that I have is not running and has a 232 I6. The other
one I have is a hull now...no trans or engine...so...I am starting
from scratch and can put whatever I want to in it. 401's are kinda
hard to find, although it seems I can still find cam shafts, exhaust
manifolds, etc. for it.
I want a car that I can pull up beside a rice burner (give the
finger) and leave behind. I might even want to beat a Mustang. So a
street sleeper is really what I want to acheive here. Now as for
keeping all things AMC....that's a nice idea, but really....I am
tossed up between using an AMC engine or just get the easy-to-find
Chevy stuff.
The only things that I insist on keeping stock on this project car
are the body and interior. [Been there, done that on an ALL STOCK AMC
car...weren't easy!] This time I want to have fun.
I want your opinion before I go junkyard shopping!
By the way, how much for the Spirit, what shape is the engine in, and
where is it located?
