The Comanche brakes suck in the trucks because A: they are under boosted (to prevent skidding) B: the rear brake level sensor is usually jammed closed or messed up but it was designed to prevent skidding. C: the rear brakes are undersized for the tires (to prevent skidding) and there aren't any real decent brake pads designed for them (unless you have a late '91 with the newer style brakes) I have the later model double booster on mine and my rear wheel cylinders are from an Eagle (larger bore) I run 33/9.50/15 tires and since it has the Metric Tonne rear spring package I installed, I tow small cars and haul up to 3,000 lbs of gravel in it. I'm going to miss it too since I have to sell it this month just to pay my bills (had it since '01) and I've been too sick the change the trans (no place to do it since my carport was ripped off by a microburst in Feb either) It's just too small to haul around my grand kids and wife at the same time. It's a shame since I finally converted it to 4x4. From: amcngmc@xxxxxxxxx To: amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [AMC-list] AMC-Disc brakes? I have a Comanche, I have seen how well those brakes stop from 65mph...Ya I wouldn't run them on an AMX or Javelin.
