[AMC-list] Holley 4412 2bbl carb on 290

So this Holley came up on ebay and I got it for a reasonable price (sub
$100).  I know this type was fitted to the 304 and I've seen others
advertised as for 290.  So, it's as cheap and quick as a rebuild for my
tired Carter 2bbl.  Only the fittings aren't quite the same.....

The worst of it seems to be that there's a fitting for a fuel return line -
Needless to say I don't have a return line - can I get away without this?
 Can I just fit a short pipe and blank it off?

Tried to google and search the Holley tech stuff, but nothing there is
really helping.

I'd happily go 4bbl but I don't have a good/cheap source for a manifold.
