If you're close to Seattle, I'll be pulling the engine crossbar from my '82 Spirit sometime soon (putting a 727 in my eagle wagon first. It's the most mechanical work I've done since summer and I guess proof I'm feeling better since the teeth were removed!)

not sure if the i6 crossmember is necessary but i think it'd make the
job easier. any hornet, gremlin, or concord could also donate.

the i4 tranny won't bolt to an i6. [well, if it's an iron duke i4
it'd bolt to a chevy i6...]

too bad you aren't using a wrangler 4.0; unless it's a mid-'00s model
it'd have a 3sp auto similar to yours though i don't know what it'd
take to convert to 2wd, and a conventional fan/accessory layout unlike
the oddball cherokee. grand cherokees also had conventional fan/acc
but a 4sp mopar auto. afaik you could use the flexplate with an amc
i6 converter and tranny.

also, you probably have your donor already picked out, but note i'm
sure 4.0s up to '99/'00 have the amc mounts - though one is tapped to
12mm for the '87-'90 knock sensor - but i'm -not- sure if the post-'99
block redesign still has them. it also changes the oil finter angle.
