I recall a lot of early '80/81 4.2L having issues with sticking valves on #2 cyl. Most bent the pushrod iirc.

Replaced distributor cap, no effect, checked all spark plug wires and vac lines, nothing. Apears to be 'deeper' in engine, somewhere around 2nd cylinder from front though. Thanks for continued replies.
