Re: [AMC-list] 62 Classic Update

yeah, I probably wasted a good $80 or so, but knew it going in.
I like the lack of spill-able acid and no corrosion on the posts.
I think that was the main deciding factor for me.

I thought so too until I went to a **local** battery shop:

I found that their prices were like what I remember all the chains charging just a few years ago. I needed a battery recently for a 1980 Ford Fiesta I picked up, and their group 42 was about $60 when everyone else -- Advance, Autozone, Wal-Mart, NAPA, and others were all above $100.

I don't know why but all of the chains have jacked battery prices towards $100 each and more. Maybe it's a function of the fact that they all get a lot of warranty returns on batteries because the counter people don't know how to figure out if a battery is just discharged or is actually bad. Those testers most of them use don't really tell you anything. I'm certain they replace under warranty a lot more than they need to.

On the othe rhand it could just be that our federal reserve notes are becoming more and more worthless. ;-)
