[AMC-list] Concord won't start

i beleive those are column ignition systems. every column ignition system, the key pushes a rod down the steering column. the actual switch is at the bottom of the column. fords and chevy's do this ALOT as they get old. that rod will weaken, and get a little bend in it. so it does not contact the switch itself at the bottom of the column. you may check that.
