a warning you probably already know - about '87 gm revised the 2.8,
fixing a bunch of problems like the rod bearings you mention.  they
also changed the 2.8 from external to internal balance, so you can't
just throw the comanche flywheel or flexplate on.  the flexplate can
easily be rebalanced by removing the weight; the flywheel is a bit
harder, but i think an '88-up s10 2.8 flywheel would do the trick.  i
know a camaro 2.8 flywheel is way too thick.

i also hope the celeb 2.8 has usable motor mounts for a rwd app.
