On mine I just took the gear off. Take the pin out and the gear slides off - put
the pin back in and the shaft will stay in the dist. housing. I use a 3/8" B&D
drill. It's top rpm is about 1200 so it is geared well. Another 3/8" I have has
about 3000 rpm and I suspect it wouldn't work as well.
