I see there are some other posts using the original subject line, but are actually different. Please change the subject line when responding. 

Joe, this was never intended to be a slap in your face. I realize you weren't aware of the hoax and had nothing but good intentions. The only reason I'm making this response and asked that the topic be closed is to keep it from taking over the list. I would (and have) done the same for other off-topic posts that go on for more than a couple days. I try to keep political/religious/whatever off-topic posts to a minimum. There are places for that, this isn't one of them. If things like this were allowed all the time there would be few AMC posts to read. Policies like this are typical of most narrow subject mailing lists. 

I typically wait a little while for something to just peter out, but this one was getting way too much traffic. Again, nothing personal on your part -- it's more about the many posts afterwards than the first one. A few stating it was a hoax were fine, but it just looked like it was going to keep on for a while. 

If anyone has anything further to say, e-mail me directly (farna AT att.net).

Well..F&*^%$# excuse me!! I've NEVER seen the WWII memorial in person. I would LOVE to since my Dad was a WW II veteran that was ON Omaha Beach on D Day !! Had NO idea it was "supposedly" a hoax? SORRY to bother the AMC folks....Joe
