I think the car was made in March of 1966 so that's pretty late in the year.

My guess is that it was an early production car. The 66 TSM doesn't mention the solid shaft. Maybe I have a later, revised TSM? I believe the two piece shaft and/or collapsible column was mandatory from calendar year 1966 on, but earlier production could have the older style shaft. I don't know exactly when the switch occured, I was going strictly by the wording in the TSM on removing the steering box. I've been wrong before, and will be again though!!

This is not right. The 66 Rebel I had for sure had the spear-O-death column in it. The power steering cars that year did have a rag joint but this car was a manual steering car.
