I have never driven a vehicle that had a 700R4 in it that did not remind me of driving a truck. I have the same issue with my amc T5. The large gap from 1st to 2nd just seems to much. Personal choice. Not saying there is anything wrong with 700.  
    I don't think I would purposely go for either one if given other choices. 
    I hope to get my 2.95 1st gear T5 built if I ever get caught up on 3 years worth of "maybe somedays".
