Yes, the 4BT would be great ... a couple FSJers are running them and getting 22-25 MPG with them.  At this point, that would be a no-go unless someone actually bought & donated the setup and dropped it off within DAYS so that we could get it swapped.  The Waggy is slated to head to Guatemala the 1st week of November.

thought of another diesel-repower option for you: 4-cyl cummins from a
bread truck, backed with torqueflite bits from an early dodge pickup
cummins.  probably not near cost-effective even used and still several
hundred lbs heavier than the amc v8, but brutally tough and even in
stock form capable of 200hp and 400 ft-lbs, which is to say as much as
you'll ever need.
