Question..... did Borg Warner design the T-5 to go rock crawling?? Probably not. Heck those rock crawling guys always destroy AMC model 20s and routinely destroy the nearly bullet proof Ford nine inch axle, Dana 45s and 60s are included in that group, so why should a T-5 fair better?? You can't exceed the design limits too often without failure........... Remember Jeep became a status symbol vehicle in the late 70's early 80's. I actually resented Jeeps back then, because it seemed like you had to be rich to own one. So that T-5 was put into a vehicle that worked really well on slick roads and low traction conditions for the status symbol crowd. You know the guys from the suburbs who like to look good wherever they go, but really never go anywhere other than work, shopping and vacations on the interstate. The cute gal with the expensive hairdo and fashion sunglasses with the goggles type suntan from the ski slopes, never took her CJ rock crawling.............. just my opinion...... It's at least as strong as a T-5, probably a little better than the early T-5. I know people with street driven Jeeps (and 4.0L) that never had a problem with them after over 150K miles, and "real" Jeepers who break them in under 50K. > > > ----------- > Date: Sat, 10 Oct 2009 19:34:50 -0700 > From: Jim Blair <carnuck@xxxxxxxxxxx> > > It may have been upgraded already or you drive fairly gently. They have a really bad rep with the CJ crowd. (mine died before I got home because they only hold 2 pints of oil and mine has less than a 1/2 pint left!) > > > From: Wrambler <wrambler242@xxxxxxxxxxx> > To: "Rambler AMC, Nash, Jeep and family" <amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > I'd take offense at the term TURD. I have been running one of those turds for years, it has totally unknown mileage on it and still works perfect between my 4.0L and 3:31 gears. Sure you can break it, but hell you can step on a turd to if you don't pay attention to what you are doing! > > > -- > Frank Swygert > Publisher, "American Motors Cars" > Magazine (AMC) > For all AMC enthusiasts > http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html > (free download available!) > > _______________________________________________ > AMC-list mailing list > AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx > http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com > > > -- > Internal Virus Database is out-of-date. > Checked by AVG. > Version: 7.5.560 / Virus Database: 270.12.26/2116 - Release Date: 5/15/09 6:16 AM > > _______________________________________________ AMC-list mailing list AMC-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://list.amc-list.com/listinfo.cgi/amc-list-amc-list.com
