Joe,

Current thinking is that crimping with shrink tubing is the way to go. 
The idea is that the solder makes the connection brittle which will 
cause problems over time. In the FWIW category, the connector body is a 
standard part so if the wiring is okay otherwise, you can remove the 
terminals from new connector and put the old ones in it.
