I'd pull the bumper and lay out the Class III, clean up the rust and start welding.
Would be very sweet if you could lay it in and have the reciever behind the license plate.
I do not know how the 62 is laid out back there, so I have no idea as to if it will work.
I made a hidden hitch for an import truck I had 15 years ago. It completely dissappeared behind the plate when not in use.
I intended to find a flip down plate mount, but never did. I just took the plate off and tucked it in the back window when towing as the trailer has a plate.

The thing I hate about the conventional hitches is busting shins on them.
Even if you can't hide the reciever I would still try to use it first.
Comes in handy if you ever haul bicycles too!

o, also, meant to state, the hitch on the 4door parts car. it has 1 bolt that
goes thru the trunk floor. 1 bolt that rises off the hitch to meet the cross
member that runs just ahead of the bumper and the valance pannel, and 1 bolt
that bolts to the bumper. only thing i dont like about that hitch is that i
will have to weld on some D links on each side for safety chains. i dont know
how strong my car is in that area. it dont seem to have a bunch of rust in
that area, but on the ends of that crossmember where it goes onto those frame
rails dont look so good. either way, i need to reinforce the frame rails. if
someone would like, i can get pics of the hitch on the 4door. was that a
factory option, or some generic hitch??
