He had no idea either.
It took them a LONG time to finally get it healed.
They would take xrays or some sort of scan that showed that little bit of glass, but they could not get it out.
Once they did finally get it, infection was in the tip of the bone and they had to take the end off his finger to stop it.

It was unbelievably nasty for such a little bitty thing.
I sure treat those fuses carefully now!

I have no idea if it was due to the way those fuses were made or if they still are made that way.

I do not intend to find out!
