Re: [Amc-list] TODAY'S AMC PIE-IN-SKY AWARD: $750.00 Starting Bid on Rebel

I agree Frank, And as long as we're wishing I would like a SC rambler in similar shape but I would go 1000.00 on it

I'm like you Davis. If you were paying someone to do all the work,
definitely spend the money on a better car. I don't think $750 would be a
*BAD* deal on that Rebel, just not the *BEST* deal. But I wouldn't give that
much unless I really had to have a Rebel and it was close by, or I needed a
parts car bad. $750 is way to high for a starting bid. Would have been better to
start at no more than $250 ($100 would be more like it) with a "Buy it
now" or reserve of $750 if he really won't take less.

I see Marc's point clearly though. He knows where one in much better
condition is for a LOT less. It's always best to start with the best car you
can find.

Now if Marc will find me a 56 or 57 Rambler four door within 4-5 hours of
Columbia, SC (close enough to go get in a day) I'll be happy! I'd
probably give $750 for one of those in the same shape as that Rebel if close
enough.

YOur points are well taken. It must be nice to have old cars still sitting in
junk yards near where you live. Around here anything older then 96 gets crushed
as soon as it comes in.
?Prices you gave are high for my area. Sounds like someone with no skills?a
credit card restored car. If you must farm out the work you are better off
paying more money for a better car. 200 for that rebel in the picture is a
steal.?
?Wish stuff like that still existed in my neck of the woods.
